Saturn, known best for its beautiful rings, has been observed since prehistoric times. To Holst, he is the "Bringer of Old Age." To the Romans, he was the god of agriculture and the harvest, also associated with Cronos, as often myths merged and blended. The planet Saturn is the least dense of all nine planets and is composed of mostly hydrogen (75%) and helium (25%) with traces of methane, water, ammonia. Arguably the most photogenic planet besides Earth, Saturn is portrayed in this piece by a handsome model friend of Sinned-Angel-Stock from deviantART. Additional images from NASA. |
