The most extraordinary planet in our solar system, perhaps even in our entire galaxy, is Earth. Third planet from the sun and the largest of the interior planets, Earth is the only known world that can and does sustain life. It falls within the "Goldilocks Zone" of our solar system, neither too close to nor too far from the Sun. Finding other potentially inhabitable planets within the Goldilocks Zones of their respective stars is the mission of the COROT space telescope. Fertile, majestic Earth is portrayed by model Jen in a photo generously provided by Skittlekitten-Stock. Space imagery comes from NASA and is public domain as stated on their official website. |
